这款界定流派和广受好评的即时战略游戏第三个也是最后一个扩展就是《战争黎明之灵魂风暴》。在《灵魂风暴》中，添加了两种全新的军队 —— 战斗修女和暗黑灵族 —— 将可玩的军队总数增加至九个。这种革命性的全局回合式的策略战役模式最先在《黑暗十字军》中使用，然后进一步扩大到星际规模，让玩家在整个恒星系统战斗。
- 战斗修女
帝国国教的军事修会。战斗修女人数不多，但是拥有无可比拟的力量，在纯粹战斗实力方面仅次于星际战士。从挥舞着毁灭性分离锯的悔过修女班到令人敬畏的赎罪机甲，战斗修女确实是一支令人胆寒的部队。
- 暗黑灵族
暗黑灵族异常邪恶，是灵族的分支，他们是来自于网道最远端的可怕掠夺者，被所有人所畏惧和痛恨。他们以难以置信的速度、依赖近战、晕击和投毒技能使其可迅速袭击敌人，而且在敌人增援到达之前他们早已销声匿迹。
- 毁灭性的空袭
第 41 世纪的策略战争达到了一个全新的高度，因为每个军队都拥有空中单元而实施空袭。
- 残暴的统治
由于在《黑暗十字军》使用了全局回合式地图，在整个太阳系发动的战争已经扩大为星际规模。在银河系释放你的军队的愤怒，你有可能解放、奴役或毁灭整个世界。玩家现在必须努力去征服多个行星及其卫星以征服整个太阳系。总共有 34 张地图可供玩家使用。
